We pride ourselves in being Certified Organic, CCOF certified, a Gap 4 rated company by Whole foods, made in the USA and part of the fabric of our very own Humboldt county. What does that all mean – let us explain.
Certified CCOF Organic
Before a product can be labeled “organic,” a USDA accredited certifier, such as CCOF, evaluates the farm or facility where the food is grown or processed to make sure that the producer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Certified organic operations are inspected annually by a third-party, independent inspector who reports their findings back to CCOF.
Gap 4 Rated by Global Animal Partnership and Whole Foods
Global Animal Partnership certifies producers’ animal welfare practices. They have a 5-Step™ Animal Welfare Rating Standards that every Whole Foods Market store in the United States and Canada has. Eel River Organic Beef is Step 4 Pasture Centered which means…. When living outdoors, chickens and turkeys get to forage, pigs get to wallow and cattle get to roam.
Made in the USA
What people don’t realize is that often your meat comes from other countries. They are raised, processed and shipped to the US for sale in your grocers freezer. Many times the animals are not kept in healthy conditions and their slaughter is unregulated. Our cattle are 100% raised on and processed on US soil.
We are proud to say we are part of the fabric of Humboldt county. This area is rich with fresh air, clean organic grasses and beautiful mountains, lakes and streams – the ideal place for cattle to graze.
