Grass Fed and Grass Finished

For Our Environment

We’re Eco-Wise and Environmentally Conscious.

Organic beef ranches adhere to the strict standards set forth by the USDA, NOP, and CCOF programs, keeping their pasture lands and cattle free from harmful pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, and other chemicals. Eel River Organic Beef and Llano Seco Rancho are deeply committed to the environment and wildlife. We use many grazing practices that enhance wildlife on the ranches. Llano Seco commits a large portion of their ranch to habitat preservation and Eel River Organic Beef manages cattle grazing on several state-owned wildlife areas. We work closely with California Department of Fish and Game and the Resource Conservation District in creating healthy productive ecosystems whereby our cattle, the environment and wildlife all co-exist and prosper. One example is the recovery of the Aleutian Goose. Once almost extinct, it now thrives at a population of over 100,000. These geese migrate through the Eel River Valley in fall and spring and feed on the clover pastures created by cattle grazing.

Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations (United States Department of Agriculture – USDA – National Organic Program – NOP). Certified organic food in the United States is grown according to standards set by the National Organic Program. Before a product can be labeled “organic,” a USDA accredited certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones.
